Discovering Mount Gorongosa:
Biodiversity Exploration on Mozambique's Sky Island
"Discovering Mount Gorongosa" is a documentary produced by Federico Pardo, former media producer at the Field Museum of Natural History and current film and photography instructor for National Geographic. Pardo's documentary received recognition at the 5th Annual ISFF as winner of the 2012 AAAS Scientist Award. Pardo accompanied us in Gorongosa National Park, Mozambique, as we surveyed biodiversity of mammals, birds, pathogens and parasites in 2011. The objective of this expedition, which involved collaboration between scientists from the Field Museum of Natural History, Museums of Malawi, and Gorongosa National Park, was to document biodiversity on and around Mount Gorongosa, an isolated "sky island" that was recently incorporated into Gorongosa National Park.
